Croatia's third football league is called Treća HNL. It is administered by the Croatian Football Federation and consists of four regional divisions: North, South, East, and West. Each division has between 12 and 16 teams, with promotion and relegation between divisions at the end of the season.
The league was founded in 1991, following the independence of Croatia from Yugoslavia. It serves as a stepping stone for teams aspiring to reach the higher levels of Croatian football, such as the Croatian Second Football League and the Prva HNL (Croatian First Football League).
The competition is played in a round-robin format, with each team playing every other team in their division twice (home and away). The top team in each division at the end of the season is promoted to the Second Football League, while the bottom team is relegated to the fourth division.
Some of the teams currently competing in the Treća HNL include HNK Orijent 1919, NK Vrapče, NK Neretvanac Opuzen, and NK Vukovar '91.
